Standard Bed
Description
The Standard Bed was the design that Martin Walsh first made when he started Taurus back in 1979. We think that tells you in itself what a great design it is. All that’s changed is some improvements to the jointing techniques that we use now, but the design itself is identical. To be honest, it’s proved itself a bit of a classic in the design of wooden beds. (And is imitated by more than one of our competitors.) This is the original, however. With its simple elegance, and double rail headboard, the Standard Bed looks fantastic in both contemporary and more traditional looking bedrooms.
Specifying your bed
Use the finish selector to help you decide which finish would look best in your space. Then pick the size you want and tell us how many you’d like. (Well, sometimes people want more than one!) Once you’ve done that, carry on and add a mattress… and maybe some of our big, strong, wheeled underbed storage drawers. If you have questions, or need more details about any of our beds or bedroom furniture, just call us or use our contact form.
Bed Measurements
Bed sizes are always described using the size of the mattress the bed takes, so the dimensions you’ll see on our Bed Size menu are actually the length and width of the mattress. If you need the external dimensions of the wooden frame for this bed, add 4.75in (12cm) to the length and width.
Lead time
Your Taurus wooden bed will be handbuilt for you in our factory to your exact choice of style, size and finish, as well as any bespoke adjustments you might ask for. Naturally, to build a beautiful, quality bed for you takes a few days. We aim to deliver beds in 4-6 weeks from receiving your order. We’ll agree your actual delivery date with you when we telephone you to confirm the order. If it’s important to you to have your bed sooner than 4-6 weeks, please tell us and we’ll see what we can do to help.
