Torbay Bed
Description
Our Torbay Bed is very simple and we think very tasteful. Both the headboard and foot end are flat panels, and the headboard has a very nicely curved top that pushes up above the level of the posts. This gives this very solidly built pine bed a sense of dignity and elegance. The Torbay works well with almost any kind of bedroom decor, and can look very feminine when painted in white, eaudenil or buttermilk, or a little more rugged finished in any of our waxes or lacquers. It’s also a very good bed to place our underbed drawers beneath, as the low foot-end board conceals the sides of the drawers, when you look at the bed from the foot end.
Specifying your bed
Use the finish selector to help you decide which finish would look best in your space. Then pick the size you want and tell us how many you’d like. (Well, sometimes people want more than one!) Once you’ve done that, carry on and add a mattress… and maybe some of our big, strong, wheeled underbed storage drawers. Bed Measurements
Bed sizes are always described using the size of the mattress the bed takes, so the dimensions you’ll see on our Bed Size menu are actually the length and width of the mattress. If you need the external dimensions of the wooden frame for this bed, add 4.75in (12cm) to the length and width.
Lead time
Your Taurus wooden bed will be handbuilt for you in our factory to your exact choice of style, size and finish, as well as any bespoke adjustments you might ask for. Naturally, to build a beautiful, quality bed for you takes a few days. We aim to deliver beds in 4-6 weeks from receiving your order. We’ll agree your actual delivery date with you when we telephone you to confirm the order. If it’s important to you to have your bed sooner than 4-6 weeks, please tell us and we’ll see what we can do to help.

We could probably have squeezed a double into Olivia's room, just about, but absolutely not into Tash's. So we decided to do large singles, that are 3' 6" wide, for both. We bought Tash's bed in White paint and Olivia's in Buttermilk and they both look great. Very clean and pretty. I bought one underbed drawer for each room, in the hope that it might encourage a bit of tidiness.
I really worry about the effect of cheap mattresses on kids' backs. So we bought a couple of Taurus's Pocket Sprung 1000s.
