1)    These Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions are applicable to all transactions on our site.

All orders made through our site are subject to the acceptance of these conditions and these are deemed to be accepted by you when you place an order.

These conditions do not affect your statutory rights. These terms and conditions are subject to change without notice and supersede all earlier versions.

2)    Accessibility

In keeping with our own desire for inclusivity, and our obligations under the Equality Act 2010, we take reasonable measures to ensure that the content of our site is accessible to as wide a range of abilities and technologies as possible.

We try to ensure all of our pages adhere to standards using valid and semantic CSS and XHTML 1.0 Transitional code, tested using the W3C’s testing facilities:

CCS Validation Service
Markup Validation Service

We also aim to conform to a minimum standard of Level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0

However, there are some instance where in order to enhance the user experience of the site accessibility may fall short of these standards.

If you are experiencing any difficulties in using our site, please contact us so we can identify and work to resolve the situation.

3)   Payment

When you order via our website payment is required in full at the time of order.

In the event that any aspect of your order, or the functionality of the site, prevents you making payment via the site, payment must be completed by telephone contact with our store. The telephone number is 020 7624 3024.

We are unable to despatch or make delivery of goods until full payment has been received.

We are unable to agree to accept cash on delivery.

4)   Methods of Payment

We accept all major debit and credit cards, PayPal, personal and company cheques and bank transfers.

Cheques and bank transfers must clear into our account before goods are delivered.

5)   Your Order and the Contract

We will treat any order you make for goods via this website as an offer by you to purchase the goods subject to these Terms & Conditions.

You are deemed to accept these Terms & Conditions in full when you place an order.

Our contract with you only begins when we confirm acceptance of your offer to purchase goods from us. An order will not take place (and we will not be deemed to have accepted your order) until we have validated and confirmed your payment.

Any communication which you receive from us prior to validation is not to be deemed as an acceptance of your order.

In the event of any pricing error occurring within our website, within a written or verbal quotation, or contained within any correspondence however received, all incomplete orders shall be deemed void.

6)   Representation of merchandise on the site

Many of the goods we sell are of a custom and hand built nature.

Whilst we endeavour to publish as much information as is practical about our goods, the descriptions of the goods are as set out on the website.

All drawings, photographs, descriptive matter, colour, specifications and advertising on our website are for the sole purpose of giving an approximate idea of the appearance and functionality of the goods. They will not form part of the contract between us.

7)   Testimonials

All testimonials published via TrustPilot are verified by TrustPilot as bona fide customer comments over which we do not exercise editorial control. Personal customer comments shown on product pages under the heading ‘What people say’ are based on feedback from individual customers but have  been abstracted and rewritten for marketing purposes. These should not be considered as testimonials.

8)   Characteristics of products as offered

i) Wooden items

All wooded products sold on our site are handmade to order. These are constructed using natural timber, the dimensions and jointing of which may be affected by sunlight, temperature, humidity and the passage of time.

The unique appearance of each item is dictated by the specific pieces of timber used in its construction. The knots and grain of the wood will vary from one piece to another and form part of the individual character of each item.

Wax, lacquer and paint finishes on our wooden products are applied to the timber by hand, using sponges, rags and similar traditional manual workshop tools. While we have in the past used high power spray application for our finishes, we have now reverted to the manual processes we used throughout the first 25 years in business, for reasons of both sustainability and aesthetic.

No matter which you choose, the finish on every wooden bed is both beautiful and durable. On beds with painted finishes, the lightly grained texture of the primed timber will usually be visible within the finished surface. This is not a defect, but is a characteristic of a handbuilt item of furniture.

When you place an order for any wooden item, you accept that its characteristics and performance are subject to the nature of the material, manufacturing and finishing processes and the conditions to which it is subject.

ii) Mattresses

When you order a mattress from us, the item we supply will match the model, specification and performance of the item you have ordered precisely. We warrant that the internal fillings and materials specifications will be the same as those of the item you ordered and the quality of the mattress will not be affected.

We endeavour to deliver a mattress whose appearance is also identical to that which was represented on our site. However, due to the nature of mattress manufacturing supply, tickings, other cover fabrics, buttoning and design details of mattresses may from time to time depart slightly from the representation shown on the site or from display models presented in our showroom.

Such variations do not constitute defects under the terms of our guarantee.

Nor does such a departure represent failure by us to deliver the item as ordered.

Modern mattresses use high quality fillings which may be subject to some settlement causing the appearance of small indentations. This is normal and the appearance of such indentations does not constitute a defect under the terms of our guarantee. Rotating and turning your mattress will help to rectify these indentations.

iii) Dimensions and tolerances

All beds and mattresses are specified and manufactured in feet and inches, the prevalent consumer and industry convention in the UK.  Wooden bed frames and divan beds are designated using sizes corresponding to the size of mattress they accommodate.

As all wooden products and mattresses are built by hand, a tolerance of +/- 1 inch is applicable to all dimensions.

9)   Our Guarantee

i) Beds, mattresses, furniture and bookcases

All beds, mattresses, furniture items and bookcases sold by us carry a 5 year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship.

This guarantee does not cover general wear and tear, effects of ageing or atmospheric conditions on natural materials, or characteristics of the natural materials such as the presence of wood knots or grain.

a) Repairs and replacements under the the guarantee

The decision as to whether to replace or repair any item under the terms of this guarantee will be at the discretion of MKS Furniture Ltd t/a Taurus Beds. (Your statutory rights are not affected.)

If an item is deemed defective under the terms of this guarantee we will, at our discretion, either effect a repair, replace parts like for like, or replace the item in its entirety.

At our discretion, we may attend your premises at a convenient time to carry out such repair or replacement, or may courier replacement parts or items to your address along with instructions for their use. Though we will make every effort to match replacement components to the original finish of your item, there may be some unavoidable colour variation between your item and parts supplied for repair or replacement, due to the effects of aging on your item.

b) Consideration of claims under the guarantee

If you wish to make a claim under the terms of this guarantee, we require you to email us a minimum of 4 clear photographs of the item showing the damaged or defective area clearly. This will help us to understand the problem and decide on the best course of action. We may request further photographs if those initially supplied are inadequate for us to view the item satisfactorily.

If a defect for which you claim under the guarantee is judged by us on balance of probability to have resulted from improper use or incorrect assembly of the product (except where we assembled the product for you on delivery), we will offer to supply replacement parts as required, but these must be purchased, and the cost of delivery paid, by you.

Claims of damage to any product sustained during delivery must be reported to us within 14 days of delivery. Otherwise the issue will be considered as wear and tear and will not be covered by the guarantee.

ii) Bedding

All bedding items sold by us carry a 1 year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship.

a) Exchange or refund

Bedding items (Mattress Protectors, Pillows, Duvets) may be returned for exchange or refund within 28 days providing they are unopened in their original packaging.

For reasons of hygiene, bedding items cannot be exchanged or refunded if the packaging seal has been opened.

b) Faulty items

We will replace goods after a period of 28 days if they are faulty, providing you have followed the appropriate product care instructions. If care instructions have not been followed adequately, we are unable to exchange bedding items.

iii) Proper care of items

We take our guarantee extremely seriously and make every effort to resolve all claims to the satisfaction of the claimant.

We cannot, however, make good under the terms of the guarantee damage which has been caused after delivery by mishandling or improper or inadequate care of the goods you have purchased.

a) Damage to beds during moving

If you need to move your wooden bed frame, you should dismantle and reassemble it carefully following the instructions supplied with it to avoid damaging its joints. Damage caused by moving the bed without dismantling it will not be covered by the guarantee.

b) Mattress Care

Sprung mattresses should be rotated head to toe and turned over once a month to ensure even use and obtain the best performance from the mattress.

Memory Foam and Pocket Memory Foam combination mattresses do not require turning over, but should be rotated head to toe once a month to ensure even use and obtain the best performance.
